Breve descrição do seu lugar e práticas

The Green House Collective (Coletivo Casa Verde) is dedicated to agroecology, operating within the Federal University of Espírito Santo (UFES) at the Terrestrial Ecology Laboratory. This collective has transformed the space into a dynamic hub for agroecological practices, fostering a deeper connection between academic research and sustainable agricultural methods.

At the heart of its activities are practical demonstrations of agroecological techniques that prioritize soil health, biodiversity, and resilience. Members of the collective cultivate a variety of native and heirloom plants using practices such as composting, mulching, crop rotation, and the integration of agroforestry systems. These methods not only regenerate the environment but also serve as living examples for students, researchers, and local communities interested in sustainable food systems and ecological balance.

The Green House Collective also functions as a platform for knowledge exchange, hosting workshops, seminars, and hands-on activities that engage participants in the principles of permaculture, organic farming, and biodiversity conservation. By blending traditional knowledge with scientific research, the collective promotes agroecological solutions that are both innovative and rooted in local contexts. This collaborative effort ensures that the practices developed and shared within the Terrestrial Ecology Laboratory can be adapted and implemented in a variety of settings, from urban gardens to rural farms.

In this space, agroecology becomes more than a theoretical framework; it is a lived experience. The collective’s work not only contributes to academic discourse but also strengthens community ties and empowers individuals to take actionable steps toward a more sustainable and just food system.

Qual é o seu sonho para o futuro da sua quinta e/ou da sua localização em geral?

The Green House Collective envisions a future where sustainable food systems, rooted in the principles of agroecology, become the foundation of thriving communities. They dream of landscapes where biodiversity flourishes, soils are alive and healthy, and local food networks empower farmers and consumers alike. Their aspiration is to create models of production that respect the rhythms of nature, minimize environmental impact, and ensure fair access to nutritious food for all. By fostering a culture of collaboration and education, they hope to inspire a generation of changemakers who will champion agroecology as a pathway to food sovereignty, environmental regeneration, and social justice.
