Assentamento Rosa Luxemburgo II, located in the municipality of São Cristóvão, Sergipe, sits beside the scenic Rio Poxim. Our community began through occupation and the establishment of a camp between 2005 and 2007, driven by the recognition of the area’s 953 hectares as unproductive land. In 2009, after years of persistence and collective effort, it officially became a settlement, providing a home and livelihood for 41 families.
Since then, we have grown into a thriving agroecological community, rooted in sustainability and social justice. Through organic farming, small-scale poultry projects, and the production of handmade goods, we’ve worked tirelessly to create food security and economic opportunities. Women’s groups have been at the forefront of these efforts, empowering families and transforming our local markets with their dedication and creativity.
More than just a settlement, Assentamento Rosa Luxemburgo II represents the power of resilience and cooperation. By nurturing the land and fostering equity, we continue to build a future where our community thrives in harmony with the environment.
