Tchambalakate Eco Lodge

Mozambique

Brève description de votre localisation et de vos pratiques

The Tchambalakate Eco Lodge, located in Catembe, Mozambique, is a living example of how agroecology and permaculture can coexist with sustainable tourism and community development. Established as an ecological lodge and demonstration farm, Tchambalakate integrates regenerative agriculture, agroforestry, bioconstruction, and zero-waste principles to promote a holistic model of living in harmony with nature. Its agroforestry systems combine fruit trees, native species, and annual crops, regenerating the soil while providing food and habitat for local biodiversity. Composting, seedling nurseries, and renewable energy systems such as biogas illustrate a circular approach to resource management that reflects the essence of agroecology.

Beyond being an eco-lodge, Tchambalakate functions as an educational and cultural space, where visitors and volunteers learn through hands-on experiences in ecological farming, reforestation, and sustainable design. By fostering collaboration between local communities and international practitioners, the project strengthens food sovereignty, environmental awareness, and resilience in the region. Through its commitment to agroecology, Tchambalakate Eco Lodge demonstrates that tourism can become a regenerative force — cultivating not only landscapes, but also consciousness and collective responsibility for the Earth.

Quel est votre rêve pour l'avenir de votre ferme et/ou de votre site en général?

We are demonstrating and promoting agroecology & agroforestry in Mozambique with our grassroots movement AMO Agrofloresta. Our dream is a theater play to tour the schools of the country where agroecological and regenerating agricultural techniques are explained in a entertaining and easy understandable way. So that the new generation of farmers can be empowered and trusting that they can work peacefully and in harmony with Mother Nature while harvesting nutritional food, medicine and building materials.
